It was inspired by pinterest where I combined 2 ideas in 1.
Idea 1: paste paint tapes in the form of name/word(s) and paint over with colours. You could also use alphabet stickers
Idea 2: write on a bottle/mason jar with a glue gun and paint over with glass paint
I didn't have paint tapes or alphabet stickers, and I didn't want to use cellophane tape. well, i did make 1 with cellophane tape but it looked yellowish against the white paper. I didn't like the look of it so I threw it away.
but guess what? I've only now realised I was supposed to take the tape off after painting. so the result wouldn't have been yellowish words, but words of the colour of the paper instead. so silly!
Anyway, when I saw Idea 2 on pinterest, I thought of combining the idea with Idea 1.
Steps:
1. I typed out the words/wordings I wanted to use, I think I used light colours for the font.
2. Printed it out on a piece of white A4 paper.
3. Switched on my glue gun and ran glue all over the words. This was quite tricky to do as there were strands of glue all over the paper at first. The OCD side of me was getting quite annoyed but eventually I decided to relax and let it be all messy first. I figured I could just cut the strands later. I was racing against time too as I didn't want Soph to wake up while I was still working on it. She might want to join me and that is out of the question.
4. I neatened out the strands in between letters by cutting them close to surface of the letters.
5. Waited for Soph to wake up.
6. Handed Soph some brushes and some paint colours.
7. Let Soph paint away!
Unfortunately, Soph got bored before it was done. At least I wished she would've continued. There were still lots of white spaces left. hehe
So I tried to make her at least just go over the letters.
8. Smooth any patches of thick paint down with a piece of paper or a brush.
I kinda like the result although you can't really read her age clearly coz of the colour combination there.
Good job Soph! :)
